Life as a mother is a roller coaster ride. The smallest thing can make such a big impact. At the end of the day I never know what I am going to think. Some days I am walking on clouds amazed at what good little boys I had and grateful that they are in my life. Other days I think, we are so done having kids! What made me think I could handle three! Then other days I feel like a failure: I yelled too much, I didn't spend enough time with each child, I should have stopped my mundane chores and been Princess Leia for awhile, I should have had more patience that they got side tracked AGAIN and still aren't in there jammies, ect.
But, tonight all three boys went down well. And if that weren't enough of a gift. . . Owen melted my heart when he said this as part of his night time prayers:
"I want to give you a very special Valentine, but I can't because you are in heaven. That is why they call you Heavenly Father. I love you so so so much. Thank you for all the gifts in the world that you have given me. . . and thank you for giving me my parents that are very kind."

Owen is such a sweet kind hearted boy. He is a big help with his brothers and tries his best to do what is right. I feel like he is our guinea pig. We try new parenting techniques on him. I really hope that we don't permanently damage him one day. It was sweet to hear him be grateful for us even though we aren't perfect. He is such a treasure in our home and we are grateful that Heavenly Father sent him to us too!

Oh, that really is such a cute prayer! hope you guys had a good valentines day! Did you know you were married on my birthday? Tell your kids that we are missing them! By the way, #4 on my list didn't happen! Baby #2 was SO much easier than #1! I didn't even need pain pills!
What a sweet Valentine's gift. Maddy, I really can't imagine you yelling. That makes me feel a little better and validated in my impatience as a mother. :) Some days are just rough. But I know you're a great Mom!
Oh, that was the sweetest thing I've heard. What a good boy he is, but it's because he has such great parents. I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day!
How sweet was that?! I read this to Randy and he loved it. I also read him the kid quotes on your sidebar- made us laugh. You and Nick are raising your boys right!
Wow, what a sweetheart. You know, he gets that from you and Nick.

So sweet! Owen does have such a tender heart and what a great valentines gift (for both you and Heavenly Father!) :)
I love this post. It is so how I've been feeling lately. SOOOO imperfect! Our Stake Pres. posted something on his blog the other day that has completely changed me, our home and our boys. If you want to read it...www.blogstuph.blogspot.com I know it's what we all know already, but I loved it so much.
Glad you had a great VDay!

Oops, I switched my comments, but anyway--I love hearing about "love stories." They're the best!
