Old San Juan, Coconuts, and Rainforest

We have been having such a good time with visitor! The boys love all the attention and break from our ordinary life. We went to Old San Juan twice while Randy and Meghan were here. We had an authentic meal that was really yummy and then ate breakfast at a cafe the next morning.
When Nick and I went out alone we found this quiet secluded area that we took everyone to.
The "newly weds".
Jaren sure loves kisses from his uncle Randy!
The lighting was bad, but here is Nick and I's favorite spot to chat and enjoy the view!
We were making lunch one day and our saw our neighbors climb a the coconut tree in their back yard and cut coconuts down. The boys were really excited and wanted to ask if they could have one. We ended up with not one but 4 "balls" (as Jaren calls them)!
Getting to the milk and fruit was a longer harder process than we anticipated. First you have to husk it.
Then you get this:
Then we busted out the hardware and drilled into it to get the milk out.
Here is the final product:
(Not sure why the picture is sideways, the computer has a mind of it's own sometimes.)
Jaren needed a nap and we thought he would slow things down so Nick, Owen, Corbin, Randy, and Meghan took a trip to the Rain forest.

The boys love their Uncle Randy!
They had an awesome time swinging from the vines!
My little monkeys!

They had a great time and we are planning to go back again as a family!

How fun to live so close to the beach!! It's always great to have visitors. I can't believe how hard it is to get a coconut open. How was the milk? Your hair looks cute! Impressive that you and your hubby cut your hair.

Our time at the rainforest was awesome!! I loved it. We're missing you guys already. I already do miss the breakfast food and the chicken. Please tell the boys we love them and that if they don't behave, Randy will tickle them ALL OVER. Love y'all :)

Fun & amazing adventures! I've never seen a coconut drilling before! :) Definitely a more modern way to open it than hacking the coconut (husk and all) with a machete.

Maddy, your boys are gonna love living there as I'm sure you will too! Coconut in your backyard and close to a rainforest--stuff we only dream of in the dry western states! Pretty cool!

Aahh..I can finally pass on my coconut knowledge to someone. I knew graduating high school in Hawaii was for a reason! Find the three dots that look like eyes and a nose and hit it between the eyes with a rock or on a rock. It will bust open perfectly in half!
